Local team on the ground
Our ideal trips come from people met along the way rather than places. Travel with a private guide, their local knowledge of the area, the passion for the city’s outdoor aspects, and support from our team.
Who you will actually be with.
Your days take shape months before you arrive, and flexible during your time in the city.
Jordan
Jordan started hosting private adventures because the days were already happening. The kayaks were in the water, the bikes were riding through the nature reserves, hosting people through the city, and meeting inspiring locals. The company has a team of people inspired by nature-led travel and passionate about hosting international guests through our home.
Shanti
Cape Town, born and raised, and in the water early. Surfing, rugby and lifesaving through school. Lifesaving seriously enough that he was picked for the South African Lifesaving Team at 22. That sport pushes its stronger paddlers into long-distance open ocean racing, so he spent several years racing surf skis off this coast.
He read Pure Mathematics and Philosophy at UCT. The interest in history and politics comes from his parents, both of whom were involved in the liberation struggle. He co-founded TRUTH Kayaking, and hosting turned out to be the part he wanted. It keeps the work physical and puts him in front of people from everywhere. He is an advocate for travel across Southern Africa, not only the Cape.
Wim
Ten years in conservation before he ever drove a guest anywhere, a good part of that with Cape Nature. He knows the Western Cape as a system rather than a set of viewpoints. Which plants belong where, what the fire cycle is doing, why a reserve is managed the way it is. His range runs from the Peninsula all the way east to the Garden Route, which is where he goes on his own time. White sharks are his specialism. He is researching their movement off this coast and what happened to the False Bay sightings after 2017, a question he is careful not to give an easy answer to.
Seb
Seb is a local guide with TRUTH and a property specialist in the Western Cape, two passions that both come down to knowing a place properly rather than knowing about it. Off duty, he is at Llandudno, chasing swell or walking the doggo.
David
A climber first and a guide second, which is the right order round for this coast. David reads terrain and weather quickly and is as comfortable building a day on the water as on rock. He runs private days across the Peninsula and the mountains, and the good ones usually turn into both.
Cape Town locals, all of us
The same hands from the first email to the airport
TRUTH surf skis on the water most days, e-bikes for the reserves, our own vehicles in between, and long-standing people for everything else.
I did not set out to start
a travel company.
I came out of finance. I moved to Cape Town for work and found a city I had completely underestimated — mountains you can be on top of before the office, two oceans within twenty minutes of each other, and a food and wine culture that would hold its own anywhere.
I started showing friends around, then friends of friends. The more I did it the more I learned, and the more people I met — chefs, winemakers, guides, conservationists, people who had spent their whole lives on one stretch of this coast. That was the part that kept going. Cape Town gives up its best through the people who live in it.
TRUTH came out of wanting to open that up: to host travellers the way we would want to be hosted somewhere else, and to introduce them to the people and the places that make this province worth the flight. The kayaks, the bikes and the trails came with it, because that is how we spend our own time anyway.
The team is small and each of them was chosen by hand. They grew up on this coastline and they know parts of it better than I do, which is the point of building a team rather than a diary.

First, who are we planning for?
Every day we build starts with a name and a conversation.
Now the good part.
Tell us what you are drawn to. There are no wrong answers here.
Shape of the trip.
Rough is fine. Almost nobody has it worked out at this stage.
Last bit.
Then one of us reads it properly and comes back to you.
