Beyond the Cape
Some journeys need more than a morning. When the Cape has you and you want more, we take the days east into forest and lagoon, north into red rock and silence, or hand you to the right people for a safari further on, all of it arranged in full, so you only have to show up.
The Garden Route, unhurried
Named the best road trip in the world in 2026, and the reason it wins is that the scenery changes every forty minutes. Forest, then lagoon, then beach, then gorge. Wilderness, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay and Tsitsikamma over four to seven days. Doing it in three is the most common mistake; the whole point of the route is stopping. We usually fly one leg and drive the rest.

The whale coast, in season
Two hours east to Walker Bay, where southern right whales come in to calve between June and December. By September they are often close enough to watch from the cliff path at Hermanus without a boat at all. We take the coast road out through Betty’s Bay, stop at the Stony Point penguin colony on the way, and come back through the Hemel-en-Aarde valley in the afternoon.

Cederberg rock art & dark skies
Three hours north into red sandstone, almost no people, and San rock art on cave walls that has been there for thousands of years. It is also the closest genuinely dark sky to Cape Town, and the night is the part people come back for. Walk early while it is cool, swim in a rock pool in the afternoon, and stay at least one night. A day trip misses the only thing you cannot photograph from a car.
